Surf Competition Promotes Active Aging
This Halloween the Huntington Beach City Council on Aging (HBCOA) hosted the 2009 Southland Senior Olympics Surf Competition. This surf competition was for men and women over the age of 50 representing their city who surf longboard or shortboard from all over southern California on the south side of Huntington Beach pier.
This event raised funds for the Southland Senior Olympics and promoted active aging and healthy living. The Southland Senior Olympics kicked off October 28 and goes through November 15. The Olympic events include: Archery, Billiards, Ballroom Dance, Bowling, Bocce Ball, Bobble Ball, Golf, Horseshoes, Push Up Contest, Racquetball, Surfing, Softball, Shuffleboard, Table Tennis, Tennis, Team Bingo, and Volleyball.
